LGBTQ+ Friendly Workplace

How to figure out if an employer is LGBTQ+ Friendly:

  • Check the company website for information regarding LGBTQ+ inclusive benefits and perks.

  • A posted non-discrimination policy.

  • They supported or sponsored the local PRIDE event and encouraged others to march in the parade.

  • An LGBTQ Diversity statement on the website



An LGBTQ+ inclusive workplace is where all employees are treated fairly, and there is equal access to career opportunities, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression. The employees feel safe, welcome, and supported.

Some ways to strategize and make a workplace more LGBT-friendly include:

  • Reviewing policies for LGBTQ+ inclusion.

  • Offer and provide LGBTQ+ Training

  • Educate coworkers about pronouns.

  • Lead a diversity workshop

  • Workplace participation in local PRIDE events

  • Offer single-use “all gender” facilities.

Inclusive organizations tend to attract more talent and boost employee motivation and engagement.

Inclusive teams show satisfaction with their job and tend to be more loyal and dedicated with increased employee engagement and trust.
