I want to take a moment to address some of the feedback received regarding my recent blog post highlighting Boise as a vibrant, LGBTQ+ welcoming city. As an Idaho Native-born into a conservative family, I hear you! It is not an easy state to live in. It is essential to recognize that while the City of Boise is a supportive, affirming community with many spaces of progress and incredible support for the LGBTQ+ community, it is also a place where many still face significant challenges and discrimination.

My hope is for queer people considering a move to Boise to know that they can find a welcoming queer community. Any future blog posts I do that discuss life as a queer person in Idaho will take the larger context of our state and the current political climate into account. Kudos to those whose resilience and efforts are striving to make a difference for Boise to truly reflect the City motto of "A City for Everyone." Politics aside, Boise is a pretty damn cool place to live.

Thank you for reading.
